Custom Knobs by Chris Prinz

Several years ago, artist Chris Prinz and I designed front panel and knobs (based on his experiments with face milling round rod on a Bridgeport milling machine) for the two pairs of Neve style preamp cards I had built. I was very happy with the visual result but was worried that over time, the weight of the solid steel on the gain switch could cause issues. The preamp cards are still in use in the studio, but in different enclosures with less fun knobs.

I rediscovered the knobs recently and brought them to a friend with a milling machine to mill out a cavity in the back. The knobs weigh about half as much as they did before now and look forward to finding a new home for them soon.
